Get Super Clear & the Path Will Open
I'm not getting what I want because what I want is all over the map
I’ve written before about how what you focus on expands. And how placing your attention and thoughts on something is the best way to make it come into being. This is in part how you create the particular reality that you see and experience around you. This is also the seat of great power that you have within you.
It is literally that simple: focus all your attention on what you want to get, where you want to be, how you want to do it, and the Universe will start re-arranging things to bring your focused thoughts into manifested reality.
I can already hear the grumbling and see the eyes rolling: “well obviously that doesn’t happen to everybody all the time. It certainly isn’t happening to me! Here I am still stuck in the same old job/relationship/health problem/uninspired life with no apparent change on the horizon.”
This has been me in a way. I haven’t felt stuck for lack of ideas of what to do or where to go. Or lack of desire and passion. Or lack of realization about how my ideas align with my greater purpose and mission in life. That all seems to be dialed in.
What I am realizing is that my problem is lack of clarity and focus on the exact change that I’m trying to create. I have so many ideas – too many maybe! I have so many possible directions that I could go in and each has a certain allure and excitement to it. But…(here’s the big but)…each also has some uncertainty to it.
So. Many. Unknowns.
The part of my brain that wants to assure my security and happiness just can’t deal with all those unknowns. So it has a hard time committing to any particular one. It just keeps them all spinning like plates in the air – keeping the breeze of possibility circling around my head, but not allowing me to make a move forward. And that’s where I get stuck.
I can’t decide on which idea to pick. Which direction to move in. What goal to pursue. Because what if I pick the wrong one? Make a bad choice? Neglect an amazing opportunity because I’m all immersed in a different one?
Call it what you like: Lack of focus. Frenetic energy. Indecisiveness. Lack of commitment. Being directionless. But it’s really just fear. Just fear. Silly, tired old fear that hangs around like the last party guest and overstays its welcome again and again.
So if you are not manifesting the life that you really want, the question to ask yourself is: what exactly do you want? Are you clear about it? Do you harbor any opposing thoughts or feelings to the one that you say you want?
For example, if you think that you want to be rich, but you also think that people with money are selfish and uncaring, then your confused subconscious won’t know which way to turn because it knows that you aren’t selfish and uncaring, so it won’t find you the money.
Similarly, if you think that you want an amazing romantic partner to share your life with, but you believe that men are insensitive or women are controlling, then how is the Universe going to deliver an amazing partner outside of those opinions?
Tune into your thoughts and make a statement describing something that you desire. Observe closely what thoughts follow immediately. They might sound something like these:
Well, that’s not gonna happen!
Who do you think you are wanting that?
How exactly are you going to do that?
There’s not enough money for that.
You don’t know anything about that.
That would be nice, but…
You and whose army?
And my favorite: are you SURE that’s what you want? Are you absolutely certain?
That last one has derailed me more times than I am willing to admit to you.
Most desires, goals, and intentions are waylaid by the surrounding thoughts of defeat or pressured questioning. I mean how can anyone ever be absolutely sure about anything? Plenty of you come close, I’m sure, but 100%? I opine that there will usually be at least 1% unknown factors that will require you to exercise FAITH and TRUST.
These leaps of faith into the unknown are nail-biting experiences. Unsettling yet exhilarating. The potential that your choice holds is like a drug high. But the uncertainty is like the hangover. To get one, you have to accept the other.
So how to soothe the anxiety-ridden mind in order to move forward into the life that you want?
1. Be clear of your ultimate outcome
2. Be descriptive and specific about what you want to manifest
3. Allow yourself grace – there are no wrong choices that start with good intentions.
4. Focus your thoughts on what you want to bring into your life.
5. Repeat and reinforce.
6. Think about but also speak, write, draw, sing, and feel the things that you are bringing in.
7. Live as though your wishes are already here in the now. You may say “I want xyz”. Your subconscious, which doesn’t know how time works (past is present is future is now), will get excited if it hears your wishes already ARE.
Once you become clear about what you are asking for, the effort disappears from decision-making and choices seem to make themselves. Action steps are more likely to fall into place with ease and then forward motion happens swiftly.
To summarize:
Clarity.
Faith.
Focus.
Action.
Movement.
Success!
