The 4-letter Prayer
Part 2: The what and the how
I heard the best thing last week!
I was listening to an episode of Laura Alden Kamm’s podcast The Voice of Intuition in which she was talking about prayers and positive thoughts.
(I have long considered her one of my mentors, although I’ve never met her and she most likely doesn’t even know I exist…)
At any rate, the question put to her was: “How do prayers for other people work?”
Her guest was trying to zero in on what happens when we pray for someone or send them best wishes or healing intentions.
She wanted to know, “What does the sender actually have to do in order to ensure that the ‘energy packet’ of the positive thought gets to the correct recipient and has an effect?”
Is repetition required?
A particular wording?
Holding the thought in mind for a length of time?
How does one know that they are doing it correctly and in a way that will have the most impactful outcome?
Laura patiently explained the many nuances of the process to her guest and listeners.
Then she said something that grabbed my attention and actually made me laugh out loud:
The beings who you are praying to know exactly what you mean when you ask for help or guidance. You don’t have to spell it out for them.
As a matter of fact, simply saying the word “help” will do the job. In its entirety. No further details needed.
What a relief!
I have been instructed that when setting intentions you need to be very specific and word things in the exact way that you want delivered.
Because the Universe is literal, I guess, and you don’t want to steer ol’ Uni off course by being vague. Imagine what you might get… Be careful what you pray for, indeed!
So of course I tend to overthink my intentions. They end up being way too long and convoluted as I try to cover every last iteration of the outcome that I desire.
Same with prayers. What do I actually want to call in for this person? And how to call it in while honoring what they actually want?
It’s enough to make a perfectionist spin.
I’m not exactly a perfectionist.
It’s more that I am deeply concerned with getting it wrong.
I definitely don’t need things to be perfect, but I get alarmed when they turn out downright wrong under my direction.
Somewhere in your heart you know what you are asking for.
And somewhere in the ether, the being(s) that you are calling on know(s) exactly what’s in your heart, too.
What a sense of relief when Laura Alden Kamm offered that “help” was a complete request in and of itself.
This beautiful set-up takes a load of pressure off those moments when you just don’t have the composure or the clarity to put it all into specific detailed sentences.
The rush of energy through my body when I heard that indicates to me that what she says is true and can be utilized exactly as she suggested.
Listen to the body for the body never lies.
Wishing you ease and flow,
Julie
More on tapping into your body’s communication in Prayers & Intentions Part 1:
Pinpointed awareness, a broader consciousness, and fully accepting absolutely everything about yourself are the core of what’s needed for meaningful change and true healing.
When you feel you’ve tried everything else and still the pattern persists, it’s time to get super present in your body and open to your higher self to bring in an intelligence and loving presence that far excedes anything that your mind is ever going to construct and lead you to.
When you’re ready to take a peek or jump in completely…
